As we were driving home one afternoon, having just passed through Thorpe le Soken on our way back to Walton on the Naze, I glanced to my left and saw this beatiful field glowing under a threatening sky. It brought home to me, in that moment, what a precarious time our farmers have working with the unpredictable UK weather in their efforts to provide us, and the animals, with sustenance for all our survival. I managed to capture the fleeting moment in motion on my phone camera as a stimulus, and took up my oils to lay down the image as soon as I found the appropriate canvas – a lovely long narrow one to create a panoramic landscape view. I hope this gives the viewer as much pleasure as it has given me as an artist.
