Torrid Tango

This painting was a late entry to my ‘Colour in Motion’ collection.  Having started to prepare a few paintings for an exhibiton due to take place in 2019, the Coronavirus pandemic put paid to the event going ahead that year.  The following year saw a drought of arts in general with the country closed down.  I lost all desire to paint at first, finding the stillness and silence unnerving.  Eventually I began to express my anxiety through art which can be seen in my paintings ‘Coping with Covid’ and ‘Fighting Covid’.  As the distressing times began to ease I began to think about returning the work I had outstanding but still didn’t feel much like dancing, so the ‘Colour in Motion’ collection found itself on hold.  As covid restrictions began to lift and the UK started to breathe again, I ventured tentatively back into my studio.  At first my brush strokes were delicate and sensitive but then suddenly I found my confidence and the urge to dance again.  The strength and relief overwhelmed me and the only thing to do was to tango!  This painting is the result of that fantastic feeling of freedom.

Presented on a wide white float frame
